What is a Befriending

A Befriender is a person who voluntarily gives their time to help other people reach their full potential through all the ups and downs that they face in their everyday lives.

What do they do?

• Offer support to you
• Share experience
• Listen
• Help with problemsand challenges
• Give encoragement

How will you benefit?

• It could help you through transition
• Give you the opportunity to talk to some in your home
• Share your problems with someone who has similar experiences as you. Therefore be able to offer support.

What will happend?

• You will be matched with someone
• The Befriender will meet with you regularly
• The meeting can just be a chat or you could do activities together which you can both enjoy. For example, a walk, go to the park etc.
• How often you meet depends on you and the Befriender
• The Befriender will understand the importance of confidentiality.
